De-toxification and Supplements When I began nutritional therapy in 1984 I went through an important de-toxification process. As pointed out in the Paleo-Macrobiotic paper, my gut was "rotten" and it has never reverted to its "smelly" state even though I have "cheated" on the diet since. I believe my Kinesiologist began the de-tox treatment even before the diet. He used mostly Standard Process, Inc. supplements. The company, founded in 1929, produces plant and animal organ extracts in pill form. These whole food supplements are sold through health care professionals -naturopaths, chiropractors, massage therapists etc (which means you can't just walk into a store to buy them. ) While the actual "vitamin" content is minimal, the nourishment penetrates directly into the body's cells and some supervision is necessary, especially in the de-tox phase. My "prescription" has changed over the years and is now intended to nourish rather than de-tox. I will list what I take, even though every individual requires their own analysis (meaning muscle testing in my case which is non invasive) It does concern me a bit that some day I may not be able to obtain them. Will I shrivel up like Dorian Gray? Can I count on diet alone to nourish me properly? These supplements are much like concentrated food which I chew and allow to melt in my mouth, thus bypassing the digestive process. They aren't at all like chemical pills to swallow. One unexpected benefit is that they apparently have prevented tooth decay, I haven't undergone any real dental work since 1986. (I had all my mercury fillings removed in 1985-86. The Dentist wanted to replace my crowns then too thinking they might contain Nickel which he considered poisonous. I didn't do it. Every time a tooth is drilled there is a risk of root canal. And Crowns are expensive. So I hope my previous dentists did indeed use gold as the foundation metal.)
I am going to list the supplement ingredients in detail in order to show their biological origin. The Company has a site at Standard Process, Inc. However, their referral service doesn't seem to be working. Mind you, I am not recommending them in particular. My Kinesiologist/Naturopath prescribes them and they have been very nourishing and effective. I tried to set up a vitamin/mineral regimen on my own, before finding help, but chemically produced supplements struck me of dubious value. I'm also not a fan of those supplements sold through pyramid schemes. In general I think it's a good idea to work with someone. (I just found my files from 1984. My first detox supplement list is huge. I won't print it here now (Jan 2013.)

The program means taking the supplements breakfast, lunch and dinner (and in the de-tox phase it can get even more complicated.) I count them out once every 8 days making small packets grouped in 3 separate boxes.
I also take DHEA 25 mg per day prescribed by a French MD and produced in Pharmacy. Also a MD prescribed liquid Vitamin D dose once a month.
