Being in the category of patients who cannot survive hospital care for Covid 19, I need to be assured my treating physician will prescribe Hydroxychloroquine within 5 days of symptom appearance while the virus is still in the throat. Unfortunately, French government official policy forbids her doing so for Covid 19. I could ask her to prescribe it for Lupus or Arthritis. Will I be obliged to seek it on the black market ? Will I have the time ? Maybe she can get around official policy. Can I trust her to do so in an emergency ?
I will remind her that hospitalization in China began 9 to 12 days after symptoms developed. By that time swabs in the upper throat being negative, diagnosis was only possible with a CT scan of the lungs.
I know of 2 protocols.
- Dr. Didier Raoult, France
« patients treated for at least three days with the following regimen: HCQ (200 mg three times daily for ten days) + AZ (500 mg on day 1 followed by 250 mg daily for the next four days). »
2.Dr. Zev Zelenko, USA.
« I suggest the following immediate treatment regimen of high risk patients with symptoms:
Hydroxychloroquine 200mg twice a day for 5 days
Azithromycin 500mg once a day for 5 days
Zinc sulfate 220mg once a day for 5 days »
Dr Zelenko added Zinc to the French Dr Raoult protocol.which appears to shorten the length of treatment. Hydroxychloroquine thus acts not simply to suppress the virus (especially in the throat), but to help zinc pass the cell wall where it can halt viral replication. (An observed symptom of Covid 19 is loss of smell and taste which indicates a Zinc deficiency.) Azithromycin is used to destroy germs which have been released as the virus damages the lung’s lining.
I can also ask about other solutions.
Research at the University of California San Francisco has found that « in vitro » the following drugs can reduce the Covid 19 viral load.
Chloroquine, Haloperidol (Haldol), Clorevastine, Clemastine, Progesterone. Of course, being effective in a test tube does not mean they will be effective in a human body.
Also, Chloroquine acts as an ionophore to help zinc pass the cell wall. Will these other drugs do the same ?
Quercetin (food supplement) also acts as a an ionophore. As effectively as Chloroquine ? How much does one need ?
Other zinc ionophores ? Vermectin ? Resveratol ? Umifenovir ? and Interferon ? [112].
In the meantime, what can my husband and I do to prevent falling ill with Covid 19 ?
Oximeter. First off we consult an Oximeter daily (price about $50) to verify 95-100% blood oxygen level. Dr Levitan observed that damage to the lungs of Covid 19 patients begins before breathing difficulty, the oxygen level can fall as low as 50%. Rapid treatment at this first sign of the disease may prevent serious illness.
Vitamin A – Cod Liver Oil
Vitamin C – My husband takes at least 2,000 mg. powder daily
Vitamin D3 (25(OH)D)is vital to activate the zinc. I take a once a month liquid dose of 100,000 IU. I’ve been giving 4,000 IU to my husband daily. At least 15’ a day of sunshine. It has been reported that those with over 40ng/ml do not succumb to Covid 19. In 2014 I tested at 57ng/ml. I’m going to ask for my current status.
Vitamin E We both take Toco 500IU daily.
Zinc – Jimmylegs wrote that 220 mg zinc sulfate (Dr Zelenko’s dose) is equivalent to 50 mg elemental zinc which is probably the maximum dosage one should take. (Too much zinc is detrimental.) We take no more than 25mg day. I will request my serum zinc level.
Selenium (antioxidant)
Calcium (2 parts) to 1 part Magnesium

See Under Resources, Blood Tests/Diet/Supplements check out Lynda Caroll and Jimmy Legs.
Jimmylegs observes that the following supplements are especially important for MSers.
vitamin b complex (all of them, particularly b12)
vitamin e
vitamin d3
magnesium
selenium
zinc
essential polyunsaturated fatty acids …
Notice how the above list corresponds to therapeutic options for Covid 19.

Isn't it a bit stupid to try to replace a substance readily available (chloroquine) because of Big Pharma politics ?
