flat in France this winter. Friends who are normally robust
said that after 2 weeks of being sick they dragged about another 2 weeks and
their legs even went wobbly (not good news for someone like me whose legs are
already weak). At the outset of symptoms I took Boiron’s homeopathic remedy
Oscillococcinum which attenuated the illness, but I couldn’t recover from the
weakness after the 3 day acute phase and have been dragging about depressed,
uninspired, and good for nothing ever since. Yesterday my husband found an
Asiatic acupuncturist while taking a walk and in desperation I called for an
appointment, my regular therapist being unavailable.
The Doctor is very old (70’s, 80’s ??), maybe hard of hearing, and didn’t
like any of my ideas. I gave up on trying to explain anything, lay down on the
table, more stressed than I had been on arriving. Well, he is an acupuncturist
of the traditional old school and did a great job. Apparently more lucid while working,
he explained he had gone to medical school in Hanoi (Western medicine), that he had studied acupuncture in
China and Japan, that he used the Japanese needling method which doesn’t hurt
like the Chinese method. He took my pulses on the 2 wrists (there are 6 pulses
on each wrist, 3 yang on the surface, 3 yin profound. When I studied Acupressure
in Berkeley during the 80’s I found taking the pulses quite difficult.) A good
acupuncturist can glean a good deal from this essential method of diagnosis.
The Doctor said my
vital energies were very low (which was when I remembered how the flu had
knocked me flat – mid December I had been feeling great) he said also I had
psychosomatic illnesses. (I don’t think he understood I had MS, but certainly
if stress forces blood into my central nervous system, it can affect my health.)
I think he needled points on my neck, lower skull, spleen points on
my chest, points on my hands and wrists, the gall bladder 34 point at the knee,
the kidney point on the ankle, maybe more elsewhere, perhaps10 needles on each
side to total at least 20. (I think I can identify the points he used but won’t try here.)
I felt so much better afterwards, so relieved and last night I
slept like my cat. And today I can return to work, maybe even begin my personal history which I've been resisting.
I don’t know how much longer this Doctor will be practicing
Acupuncture, but I fear his kind will soon disappear in France. I'll leave that subject for another post.
The treatment completely strengthened my physical vitality and transformed my state of mind.
Untreated, I'd still be dragging about like a depressed zombie. The daily TENS self acupressure treatments had helped, but I needed the more profound treatment (and it had been 2 months since my last treatment. I had neglected my rule, one acupuncture treatment a month.)
Below you will find entries and information taken from the site
Thisisms.com. Since the flu stopped me dead in my tracks for a month, I’ll let
others speak for me.
On January 28, 2013 on the site Thisisms.com want2bike
gave the following advice in response to a patient (worried33) who was told her
lab tests were normal even though she suffered multiple nervous system symptoms.
She feared that her problems were “in my head.” (See “confused” under the thread
Introductions.)
Want2bike writes
“I know how you feel. I went through the same thing about 5 years
ago. I was going back and forth to the emergency room about every 3 months.
Things like muscle spasms in my back, bronchitis, dizzy spells, double vision,
chronic fatigue syndrome, feeling of pins and needles running up my arm, and a
variety of other problems. MRI's, CAT scans and a variety of test and I had
nothing. They got paid very well for telling me I had nothing. My PCP gave me
some blood pressure medicine and told me it was just old age and I would have to
learn to live with it. You will die before these doctors figure it out. You can
investigate your symptoms on line and figure it out for yourself or find a
holistic doctor who can figure it out. My problem was the amount of root canals
and amalgam fillings I had in my mouth. Once I had them taken care of by a
mercury free dentist and got on a detoxification program all my symptoms went
away. I haven't been back to the emergency room in 5 years and feel good again.
The best thing you could do is go to the diet section and read as much as you
can about healing through diet and design your diet. That is the way the body
heals itself. I wouldn't worry too much about putting a name on your disease
because true healing comes through the diet we eat. Keep in mind that in july
2000 JAMA reported doctors were the 3rd leading cause of death in the US. If you
keep fooling around with these doctors there is a good chance they will kill
you. Take your health in your own hands and figure it out. Not that hard to do.
Eliminate all the toxins and eat a healthy diet and you have a good chance of
getting better.

ME: If one wants to call these symptoms MS (and they are writing on an
MS website) I would call want2bike’s problem “Toxic MS” (see my
Five MS Types blog post). Want2bike is right, you don’t need to give a name to
whatever ails you. Aspartame
poisoning has resulted in MS like symptoms. Want2bike has
provided numerous resources which I include
here.
Want2bike wrote on Sun Jan 20 2013 his warning to anyone considering the
immunosuppressive drugs.
“You might want to look at studies showing the effectiveness of
drugs before starting them. Make it your decision since you will suffer the results.

george jelinkek (http://www.overcomingmultiplesclerosis.org/)
has a cohort study running, results sometime in 2013 as well i
belive the first study was quite impressive (some methodical weakness

Hi all,
I have been following the wahls diet 100% for 7 months,
and have found this medical journal explaining the details of Dr Wahls trials
from this year,
It states the patients were told to take the following
supplements:
Omega 3 fatty acids - 4 grams daily by mouth. (Pinnaclife
Omega 3 fatty acids)
Full Spectrum vitamin - Two capsules daily.
(Pinnaclife)
Essential - hydroxytyrosol - Two capsules twice
daily.(Pinnaclife Essential)
Maltodextrin fiber supplement - One scoop daily.
(Pinnaclife Cleanse)
Mineral boost (magnesium) - Two capsules daily
(Pinnaclife Mineral Boost.)
Niacinamide - 500 mg daily
Methyl B12 1000 mcg
daily
Taurine - one gram daily
Creatine - one teaspoon daily
Thiamine -
100 mg daily
Riboflavin - 200 mg daily
N acetylcysteine - 1 gram daily
Alpha lipoic acid - 300 mg twice daily
L acetyl carnitine - 500 mg twice
daily
Methyl folate - 1000 mcg one pill four times a week
Coenzyme Q - 100
mg daily
the pinnaclife brand in some of these supplements are expensive so
would just use cheaper iherb.ciom substitutes
I know Dr Wahls has acheived
fantasic results getting out of her wheelchair and cycling, and appreciate many
on the diet have not got these results, but i cant help but think taking the
above supplements can only help”,
ME; So here we have some resources and opinions which more or less fill out my own
work. And now that the acupuncture treatment has revitalised me I can get back to work.
